The sunny vitamin
Did you know that the body produces vitamin D when the skin is exposed to the sun’s ultraviolet rays? No surprise then that it is nicknamed the sunny vitamin!
Vitamin D is important for maintaining good overall health, since, among its benefits, it helps lower the risk of developing certain infections. This valuable ally also supports strong bones by increasing the absorption of calcium and phosphorus.
Of course, in winter, production is limited. Happily, certain foods contain vitamin D, such as eggs, salmon, tuna and mushrooms. The plain and vanilla Greek yogurts that we use in our fruit plates and smoothies also contain this helpful vitamin.
So go ahead, add a little sunshine to your day!
