The return of the Bobby Button

Who is this Bobby Button everyone is so fond of and why did he deserve a dish to be named after him? Madame Cora tells the story.

One of our regular guests was a designer at a button manufacturer. He eventually brought his coworker Bobby along. Each time Bobby sat down at the restaurant, he requested a special, custom-made breakfast. It’s after he requested an omelette between two crêpes that the now famous dish was named after him.

“Guess what he’s asking for this morning, Mom,” my daughter tells me, as she walks into the restaurant’s kitchen. “Bobby wants an omelette with bacon and tomatoes.”
– “Well, that’s easy. One bacon and tomato omelette coming right up.”
– “Wait, Mom! That’s not all. Bobby wants his omelette served between two crêpes.”

A crêpe-omelette was a magnificent idea. After placing the omelette between two large crêpes, I cut it into four pieces, like a sandwich, in order to fit all of it on the plate. Right away, I thought it resembled a flat but delicious club sandwich. Thanks to Bobby and his repeated requests for custom meals, the Bobby Button dish was added to the list of items available on the Cora breakfast menu.
