Comme il \u00e9tait alors d\u2019usage de fermer les casse-cro\u00fbte le dimanche, le n\u00f4tre souffrait tragiquement de solitude.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>- Faut absolument trouver quelque chose pour tremper le nez du chat dans un bol de lait, s\u2019exclame un jour Julia, d\u00e9sempar\u00e9e.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Finalement, c\u2019est Fatima qui propose d\u2019utiliser le tableau du menu du jour pour y annoncer, durant la semaine, de nouveaux plats qui seraient offerts en exclusivit\u00e9 le dimanche. On en parlerait toute la semaine pour aguicher les gourmands, les inciter \u00e0 faire le d\u00e9tour pour revenir le dimanche. Nous voil\u00e0 tout enthousiasm\u00e9es par la suggestion. Il s\u2019agit maintenant d\u2019inventer quelque chose d\u2019encore plus g\u00e9nial que tout ce qui est d\u00e9j\u00e0 dessin\u00e9 sur nos murs.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>- Facile, d\u00e9clare \u00c9velyne. Cora, \u00e0 quoi tu penses?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Un d\u00e9tecteur d\u2019id\u00e9es a d\u00e9j\u00e0 entrepris le ratissage de mon enc\u00e9phale. On pourrait exag\u00e9rer l\u2019originalit\u00e9 d\u2019une cr\u00eape ou ajouter des zestes d\u2019agrumes pour am\u00e9liorer l\u2019ar\u00f4me des pains dor\u00e9s, mais ce serait superflu puisque ces aliments sont d\u00e9j\u00e0 pris\u00e9s par la client\u00e8le.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>- Et si on mettait des cr\u00eapes et du pain dor\u00e9 dans la m\u00eame assiette? Qu\u2019est-ce que vous en pensez, les filles? Propose \u00c9velyne.<\/p>\n<p>- Ouais\u2026dit Fatima, il me semble que \u00e7a manque de punch.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>- Pas si on ajoute une belle montagne de fruits m\u00e9lang\u00e9s, saupoudr\u00e9e de neige (notre fa\u00e7on de d\u00e9signer le sucre en poudre), r\u00e9plique Julia, enthousiasm\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p>Il me suffit d\u2019ajouter qu\u2019on pourrait aussi servir le nouveau plat napp\u00e9 d\u2019un coulis de framboises pour que la folie s\u2019empare du casse-cro\u00fbte.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>- Oui! Mais comment est-ce qu\u2019on va appeler ce r\u00e9gal, boss?<\/p>\n<p>- L\u2019\u00c9velyne de Fatima? Non, \u00e7a se dit trop mal!<\/p>\n<p>- Pourquoi pas la date d\u2019aujourd\u2019hui\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0sept de juillet\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>- C\u2019est pas tr\u00e8s accrocheur, commente Julia. Qu\u2019est-ce que vous pensez de \u00ab\u00a0<strong>Seventh of July<\/strong>\u00a0\u00bb<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>- Pourquoi pas? La moiti\u00e9 de notre client\u00e8le est anglaise, et on se chargera d\u2019expliquer le nom et le contenu de l\u2019assiette \u00e0 l\u2019autre moiti\u00e9. Tu peux compter sur nous, de conclure Fatima me d\u00e9visageant.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019expression fut tr\u00e8s appropri\u00e9e. Since people were used to restaurants like ours being closed on Sundays, those days found our little Cora half empty.\r\n<blockquote>\"We absolutely have to find a way to get the cat to taste our bowl of milk\", Julia exclaimed one day feeling distraught.<\/blockquote>\r\nFinally, Fatima, the weekend helper suggested that during the week we use the daily menu to promote the new dishes that would only be available on Sundays. We would talk about them all week long to whet our gourmands\u2019 appetites and encourage them to make the trip to see us on Sundays. We thought her suggestion was great. Now we had to come up with something that was even more exciting than everything else we\u2019d already drawn on our walls.\r\n\r\n- It\u2019s easy! declared Evelyne. Cora, what do you think?\r\n\r\nThe wheels were already spinning in my head. We could make our cr\u00eapes differently, or add some citrus zest to make the French toast better, but our customers already thought they were great dishes the way they were.\r\n<blockquote>- What if we served cr\u00eapes and French toast on the same plate? What do you think, girls? offerd Evelyne.\r\n\r\n- Okayyyy\u2026 said Fatima, but it needs to be more exciting.\r\n\r\n- Not if we add a nice mountain of mixed fresh fruit, with a sprinkling of snow replied Julia, enthusiastically.<\/blockquote>\r\n\u00ab A spinkling of snow \u00bb was what we called powdered sugar.\r\n\r\nI suggested that we could also serve the new dish covered in raspberry sauce and the snack bar went wild.\r\n<blockquote>- Yeah! But what are we going to call this treat, boss?\r\n\r\n- The Evelyne and Fatima? No, it\u2019s too hard to say.\r\n\r\n- It\u2019s not very catchyJulia remarked. What do you think of <strong>The Seventh of July<\/strong>\r\n\r\n- Why not? Half our customers are Anglophones, and we\u2019ll just have to explain the name and ingredients to the other half. You can count on us, concluded Fatima, looking me in the eyes.<\/blockquote>\r\nShe was right.
