Apr\u00e8s un mariage malheureux, un divorce sans provisions et sans rien dans nos poches, nous avons commenc\u00e9, mes enfants et moi, l\u2019aventure de survie familiale en 1987 dans un petit espace de restauration de 29\u00a0places assises.<\/p>\n<p>La pauvret\u00e9 nous a appris \u00e0 tendre la main pour demander et, bien souvent, pour donner. Et c\u2019est sans le savoir que nous sommes devenus chaleureux et g\u00e9n\u00e9reux. \u00c0 force d\u2019avoir besoin d\u2019amour, on s\u2019est habitu\u00e9s \u00e0 faire plaisir aux autres. Tout \u00e7a s\u2019est b\u00e2ti comme la mousse sur les arbres, sans qu\u2019on s\u2019en aper\u00e7oive vraiment. Parce qu\u2019on \u00e9tait toujours pr\u00eats \u00e0 surprendre un client avec notre g\u00e9n\u00e9rosit\u00e9, avec un deuxi\u00e8me bol de soupe gratuit ou avec une pointe de dessert emball\u00e9 pour emporter \u00e0 la maison. D\u2019un jour \u00e0 l\u2019autre, l\u2019amour s\u2019est mis \u00e0 germer dans nos oreilles pour \u00e9couter de plus pr\u00e8s notre monde; sur nos paupi\u00e8res pour \u00eatre certains de reconna\u00eetre nos clients \u00e0 chaque visite; dans nos mains pour les \u00e9blouir chaque fois; et dans le fin fond de la coquille osseuse de notre cerveau o\u00f9 grandissait une cr\u00e9ativit\u00e9 bienheureuse.<\/p>\n<p>Cette \u00e9nergie salvatrice a fait son chemin \u00e0 travers nous, affectant au passage notre volont\u00e9, notre raisonnement et l\u2019imagination constructive qui allaient nous faire r\u00e9ussir en affaires.<\/p>\n<p>Comme par magie, l\u2019invisible sollicitude \u00e9manant de nos mains collait sur celles des autres, propageant le b\u00e9n\u00e9fique virus \u00e0 tous nos employ\u00e9s, \u00e0 nos collaborateurs et, plus tard, \u00e0 tous les alli\u00e9s d\u2019un r\u00e9seau engag\u00e9 \u00e0 offrir \u00e0 sa client\u00e8le une nourriture et un service de premi\u00e8re qualit\u00e9, et impr\u00e9gn\u00e9 d\u2019une chaleureuse atmosph\u00e8re familiale.<\/p>\n<p>C\u2019est ainsi qu\u2019est n\u00e9e la tradition de donner apr\u00e8s le repas un petit plaisir suppl\u00e9mentaire \u00e0 nos clients. Et le plateau de sucre \u00e0 la cr\u00e8me gratuit est vite devenu une partie int\u00e9grante de nos proc\u00e9dures. After an unhappy marriage followed by a penniless divorce leaving me with empty pockets, I started out in 1987 on a journey of survival with my children at my sides, in a small restaurant with 29 seats.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span lang=\"EN-CA\">Poverty taught us to extend our hand to ask, and also, to frequently give. And without knowing it, we became warm and generous. Our need for love meant we became good at pleasing others. Imperceptibly, like moss on a tree, it became a part of us. We were always ready to shower our generosity on unsuspecting customers, with a second bowl of soup for free or a slice of dessert wrapped up to take home. From one day to the next, love worked to tune our ears to listen more attentively to people, to sharpen our eyes so we would recognize a customer when they returned, to guide our hands to delight them and to ignite joyful creativity deep within our brains.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span lang=\"EN-CA\">This redeeming energy made its way through us, shaping our desires, our minds, our imaginations, and became the reason for our success in business.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span lang=\"EN-CA\">As if by magic, the invisible caring expressed with our hands was passed on to those of others, spreading this beneficial \u201cvirus\u201d to our employees, our collaborators, and later, to like-minded members of an engaged network,\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-CA\">to offer clientele quality food and service, imbued with a warm family atmosphere.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span lang=\"EN-CA\">That\u2019s how the tradition of offering our customers a little something special after their meal came to be. The fudge plate quickly became a mainstay of our approach: a warm hello upon entering and an indulgent sweet moment to take away at the end.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span lang=\"EN-CA\">Here is your chance to make up some fudge to treat your family and neighbours.
