Two more Cora suns are rising every day!

Cora Breakfast and Lunch is proud to announce that the brand is now a valued partner of Canadian airline WestJet. The onboard breakfast meal, served in Premium cabin on morning flights, is now provided by Cora. It is a satisfying mark of confidence in our brand, the Canadian breakfast pioneer! WestJet has been offering Cora breakfasts on the majority of its flights lasting 2½ hours or more since June 26. The in-flight dishes are inspired by classic Cora favourites: Smoked turkey eggs Ben et Dictine, a Vegetable skillet and a Spinach and aged cheddar omelette with turkey sausage. Passengers in WestJet’s Premium cabin are able to savour Cora breakfasts, making it a delicious opportunity for Cora to offer a taste of its menu to a different segment of the population. This time, it's the city of North Vancouver that the most recent Cora sun has risen. Pioneering founder Cora Tsouflidou was on location for the Grand Opening. It is when she performs the traditional Egg-Cracking Ceremony, during which the first symbolic omelette in the restaurant is made. The new location is part of a nationwide expansion of the Cora network, making it the 10th restaurant in British Columbia for the largest sit-down breakfast chain in Canada. With more than 130 operating restaurants, Cora Breakfast and Lunch continues to offer morning gastronomy dedicated to breakfast: quality food and service in a warm family atmosphere.

Alberta welcomed a new Cora sun located downtown Edmonton while British Columbia celebrated the arrival of the restaurant in Surrey. Pioneering founder Cora Tsouflidou was on location for both Grand Openings, joined by local owner-franchisees to welcome dignitaries, lifestyle influencers and guests for a true celebration: the traditional Egg-Cracking Ceremony, during which the first symbolic omelette in the restaurant is made. The new locations are part of a nationwide expansion of the Cora network, making it the 9th restaurant in British Columbia for the largest sit-down breakfast chain in Canada, and the 18th restaurant in Alberta. Madame Cora originated the concept in 1987 when, as a single mother of three in need of a career, she bought a small abandoned diner on Côte-Vertu Boulevard in Montreal’s St-Laurent area, focusing solely on breakfast (egg dishes, fresh fruit, cheese, cereal, omelettes, crêpes and French toast). The restaurant quickly became the talk of the town, often with lineups at the door. Madame Cora’s astute entrepreneurial instincts told her that this was a concept that could be franchised. With 130 operating restaurants, Cora Breakfast and Lunch continues to offer morning gastronomy dedicated to breakfast: quality food and service in a warm family atmosphere.  

In order to reduce plastic waste, we will remove all plastic straws from our restaurants during the year 2019. Canada’s leader in breakfast and lunch is proud to commit to this ecological transition for the wellbeing of our planet. Over the last few years, we have decided to switch to biodegradable containers for our take-out meals. The complete removal of straws is not an option we considered due to our family theme, experienced in some 130 restaurants from coast to coast. As a first measure, we have already started to limit offering straws with beverages. We are still looking for a sustainable alternative for beverages, including biodegradable or paper straws.

Diane Thériault has been a devoted waitress at our restaurant in Beauport, Quebec, for the past 20 years. For over 45 years, she has lived her passion for customer service at different bar and restaurant establishments. Diane still wakes up around 3:30 a.m. on weekdays to open the restaurant. She greets early birds with the warmest of smiles, and as head waitress, she likes sharing stories with customers and mentoring new staff. For Diane, waiting tables isn’t just a service, it’s all about relationships with people. Diane is proud to have passed along her passion for the job to her daughter, with whom she worked for several years; to her grandson Thomas, working at the Cora restaurant in Charlesbourg, Quebec; and to her granddaughter Améliane, who’s currently working alongside her at the Beauport location. Cora restaurants is indeed a family business!

The Cora Franchise Group is proud to announce the opening of 10 new restaurants in the upcoming year. The Quebec-based breakfast and lunch chain is set to deliver on its ambitious expansion plan with multiple openings planned in Western Canada and downtown Toronto. Among them, two new Cora restaurants are opening soon: first, in a well-known hotel chain in downtown Edmonton on December 10, and then in Surrey, British Columbia, in early 2019. “We are pursuing our primary objective to offer the best breakfast to everyone across the country,” states Nicholas Tsouflidis, President of the Cora Franchise Group. “Competition is fierce, but we are proud to be Canada’s largest independent breakfast and lunch chain.” Since 1987, Cora restaurants have set the bar for breakfast restaurants and the Cora Franchise Group’s adventure followed suit with franchising opportunities 25 years ago.
